GTA 6 is officially PS5 Pro Enhanced. What that means is still a mystery, and the screenshot that claimed to explain it on November 4 looks fake.
The image showed a PlayStation France page promising PSSR upscaling and improved ray tracing for GTA 6 on PS5 Pro. It spread fast, then fell apart once people read the small print.
What did the "leaked" listing claim?
According to the screenshot, the French PlayStation page had a PS5 Pro section listing:
- PSSR upscaling for sharper images on 4K TVs.
- Advanced ray tracing, with better reflections, shadows and lighting.
- The usual PS5 features: Tempest 3D Audio, fast SSD loading and DualSense haptics.
There was nothing about resolution targets, frame rates or a performance mode.
Why it looks fake
Three things give it away:
- It mentions the wrong game. One paragraph refers to "Atsu's katana strikes". Atsu is the hero of Ghost of Yōtei, a PlayStation exclusive with no connection to GTA 6.
- The image itself looks generated. VGTimes ran it through OpenAI's provenance checker, which found signs that it came from OpenAI tools. OpenAI warns that the tool can't say who made an image or whether its content is true.
- Nobody has shown the live page. Every report traces back to the same screenshot. Outlets say the text was removed, but nobody has archived the page itself.
A copy-paste mistake on a real draft page is possible. But with the wrong game's hero in the text and AI traces in the image, we label this a rumor that leans fake.
We checked the live PlayStation pages
On November 5, we read the current GTA 6 pages on the US and French PlayStation sites:
| US page | France page | |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Pro Enhanced badge | Yes | Yes ("Optimisé pour la PS5 Pro") |
| PSSR upscaling | Not mentioned | Not mentioned |
| Ray tracing | Not mentioned | Not mentioned |
| Frame rate or performance mode | Not mentioned | Not mentioned |
| Tempest 3D Audio and DualSense | Described | Described |
| Any reference to a katana | No | No |
So the badge is real, and the specific Pro features in the screenshot aren't on either live page.
What's actually confirmed about GTA 6 on PS5 Pro?
Only the badge. Sony labels games PS5 Pro Enhanced when the developer has done extra work for the Pro, but Rockstar hasn't said what that work is: sharper image, steadier frame rate, extra effects, or some mix.
No frame rate has been announced for any console. If you're deciding whether to upgrade, our PS5 vs PS5 Pro breakdown covers what's known, and the PS5 or Xbox guide helps if you don't own a console yet.
When will we know?
Probably at launch. Reviews reportedly land on November 18, and side-by-side comparisons usually follow within days. Until Rockstar or Sony publishes the Pro details, treat any feature list as a rumor. Every confirmed detail goes on the Confirmed vs Rumor Tracker.
