If you've tried to stay away from GTA 6 spoilers this autumn, you've probably noticed it's getting harder. A leaker going by Cyberleek has spent months posting clips that are supposedly from the game, and every new drop shows up on Reddit and X within minutes.

This piece covers what happened and what's been confirmed. It doesn't describe what's in the footage, so it's safe to read.

Who is Cyberleek?

Nobody knows yet, and that's the point of the legal fight. The persona started posting footage over the summer and claims the leaks are a protest against Rockstar releasing GTA 6 without a disc. The boxed version is a code in a box, which annoyed a lot of collectors.

The protest story got harder to take seriously once the leaker started promoting a meme coin alongside the clips.

Take-Two goes after the leaker

On August 20, Take-Two filed DMCA subpoenas in New York asking Microsoft and Discord for records that could unmask the person behind the account. The requests covered things like device identifiers, linked accounts and members of three named Discord servers. Discord said it would review the request before handing anything over.

As far as we can tell, the leaker's identity still hasn't been made public.

Rockstar's statement

On August 26, Rockstar finally said something. It called the leaks heartbreaking for the team, apologized that fans had waited so long to see proper gameplay, and asked players to experience the game for themselves on November 19.

The next day, Rockstar aired its official Extended Look on Netflix, the first proper gameplay showing. Plenty of fans read the timing as Rockstar taking the story back.

The October drops

On October 8, a new archive of around 24 to 25 minutes of alleged gameplay appeared, mostly focused on Lucia. The Reddit thread about it passed 1,100 comments. Some of the clips include adult content, so be careful where you click.

Two days later the leaker posted an ultimatum: if the meme coin reached a $30 million market cap, they would release a full build of the game. The way out they offered Take-Two was physical discs and a public apology. That hasn't happened, and by October 26 the leaker said they were done posting "for now."

None of the footage has been verified by Rockstar or Take-Two. Treat it like any leak: it could be real, old, or edited.

Watermarked review copies

The newest report, from October 28, says the review copies going out to press carry visible watermarks with each reviewer's name. Anyone who shares footage could reportedly be blacklisted from future Rockstar games. That comes from a content creator, not Rockstar, so it's unconfirmed. It would make sense given the year Rockstar has had, though.

How to avoid spoilers until launch

  • X: mute "GTA 6 leak", "Cyberleek" and "GTA VI gameplay" under Settings, Privacy, Mute and block.
  • Reddit: stick to subreddits that enforce spoiler tags and avoid sorting by Hot on leak-heavy ones.
  • YouTube: tap "Not interested" on leak thumbnails. The algorithm learns fast.
  • Don't download anything. There is no playable leaked build. Anything claiming otherwise is a scam.
